Related Rocks

World Premiere: 9 December 2001, Southbank Centre, London
Last performance: 10 February 2003, Corn Exchange, Cambridge

Commissioned by the London Sinfonietta, this quintet created to the score Related Rocks by Finnish composer Magnus Lindberg continued Akram Khan’s quest to build bridges between the worlds of contemporary dance and the Indian Classical dance form Kathak. Delicate intricate gestures combine and contrast with broader sweeping movements to create a unique language that is both fascinating and exhilarating to watch.
