Chotto Xenos the Film

World Première: 11th June 2021, Birmingham International Dance Festival online

Inspired by Akram Khan’s award winning final full-length solo XENOS, Akram Khan Company’s family production Chotto Xenos has been captured as an exclusive dance film. Artistic Director of Theatre-Rites Sue Buckmaster, in collaboration with video artist Maxime Dos, directed this special film to immerse young audiences in a cinematic journey exploring the often forgotten and untold stories of World War 1 colonial soldiers. With a powerful performance of Khan’s choreography by Kennedy Junior Muntanga, the film features lighting by Guy Hoare, visuals by Lucy Cash, set design by Ingrid Hu, costumes by Kimie Nakano, to a stirring original music by Domenico Angarano.
