An introduction to the dance by Akram

“I have followed Steve Reich’s music since I first discovered Drumming in the early nineties. Ever since then I have felt a strong connection to Reich’s music, and am now excited to be collaborating with an artist whom I consider to be not only a powerful composer but a composer who also has a gift in creating music that speaks naturally to movement makers.

I am also excited to be collaborating with a South African choreographer/dancer, and a South Korean dancer and together the three male artists/dancers wish to use the process as a melting pot for exchanging and developing movement vocabulary unique from their individual personal experiences. The starting points are based on the concept of ‘corners’ – the corners of our bodies, the corners within our movements, the corners in our space, and most importantly the corners within our stories.”
