Emma joined Akram Khan Company in 2019. She develops legacy and learning projects that support audiences to connect with the company’s productions, creative processes and values, stretching beyond the work shown on stage. Her work engages schools, families and community groups to explore the company’s storytelling and movement language, creating accessible pathways for people from all backgrounds to immerse themselves in the world of AKC.
Emma trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Iwanson School in Munich, and the Royal Academy of Dance, before completing an MA in Choreography at Trinity Laban. She began her career performing and producing work for children and families and later worked extensively as a dance education specialist, where she saw first-hand how movement can unlock learning, connection and joy. She has since delivered engagement programmes for Sadler’s Wells, the Royal Opera House and The Place.
Alongside her work in dance and theatre, Emma collaborates with scientists at Imperial College London, using dance to bring scientific research to life through large-scale, interactive events for people of all ages.
